Remedial massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of muscles and connective tissue. A therapist will undertake an assessment of your complaint and develop a therapeutic treatment plan.
Specialists in soft tissue, they will use a range of techniques to effect muscle/soft tissue length, tension and tone; increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas; remove myofascial constrictions; and reduce fibrous adhesions and connective tissue thickening.
Remedial massage has also been shown to reduce stress hormones, and has a positive impact on each of the body’s systems.
A remedial therapist must have knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology to determine where to treat patients.

Deep Tissue implies a specific focus on dense layers of muscle and connective tissue. When used on its own, this very firm massage involves a full body treatment and is just one technique employed by Ebony in her Remedial Massage treatments. The word Remedial indicates 'to supply a remedy', and a typical treatment may include a combination of deep tissue massage and a range of other techniques, in a tailored treatment designed for therapeutic effect.
Remedial Massage is massage intended as a remedy or cure, so it borrows from all techniques and styles of massage to provide the best outcome for you.
Ebony used a combination of classic massage, joint mobilisations, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, Pin and Stretch moves, muscle energy techniques, stretches and lymphatic massage. She has also trained in the use of the Lester Cox technique of muscle manipulation.

Lymphatic Massage is different to other styles in that it is extremely gentle. The rhythmic, circular motion rapidly speeds up a sluggish lymphatic system to remove of waste and toxins.
Lymphatic Massage can aid in recovery from surgery, illness or injury, especially where swelling is present, and is perfect for individuals who suffer from Fibromyalgia, hormonal imbalance, stress, menstrual cramping or Lymphoedema.
The Lester Cox Technique is a soft tissue method of treating conditions involving almost the whole body, including the neck, shoulders, elbows, hands, back, coccyx, hip, knees, calves, ankles and more. Muscles and their tendons are rolled into alignment, to effectively mobilise, reduces pain and restore function to affected body parts. Used in conjunction with Ebony's Remedial Massage treatments, it is an extremely effective method on its own.
Pregnancy or prenatal massage is used to reduce stress, reduce swelling in the arms and legs and relieve muscle and joint pain in pregnant women. Massage in pregnancy can involve many different massage techniques. It is performed side-lying and only ever after the first trimester.
